Breadsticks
CACFP: 1 breadstick = 1 bread


Ingredients 6 servings 20 servings
Yeast ½ teaspoon 2 teaspoons
Flour, enriched or whole-grain ½ cup 1½ cups
Milk 2 Tablespoons ⅔ cup
Water 2 teaspoons ¼ cup
Oil 1 Tablespoon 3 Tablespoons
Honey 2 teaspoons 2 Tablespoons
Cooking Spray
Margarine



  • 1. Mix yeast with half the flour and set aside.
  • 2. Heat milk, water, oil, and honey until warm, but not boiling..
  • 3. Pour milk mixture into flour and yeast. Mix, then knead for three minutes.
  • 4. Add remaining flour and mix with dough hook or by hand.
  • 5. Allow dough to sit covered for 10 minutes.
  • 6. Roll dough out on floured board to a thickness of ½ inch.
  • 7. Cut rolled dough into "sticks" six inches long.
  • 8. Place on cookie sheet greased with cooking spray.
  • 9. Cover with dry cloth and let rise 30 minutes.
  • 10. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • 11. Brush tops with melted butter or margarine, if desired, to help keep breadsticks moist.
