Breadsticks
CACFP: 1 breadstick = 1 bread

Yeast |

Flour, enriched or whole-grain |

Milk |
2 Tablespoons |
2/3 cup |
Water |
2 teaspoons |
1/4 cup |
Oil |
1 Tablespoon |
3 Tablespoons |
Honey |
2 teaspoons |
2 Tablespoons |
Cooking Spray |

- 1. Mix yeast with half the flour and set aside.
- 2. Heat milk, water, oil, and honey until warm, but not boiling.
- 3. Pour milk mixture into flour and yeast. Mix, then knead for three minutes.
- 4. Add remaining flour and mix with dough hook or by hand.
- 5. Allow dough to sit covered for 10 minutes.
- 6. Roll dough out on floured board to a thickness of 1/2".
- 7. Cut rolled dough into "sticks" six inches long.
- 8. Place on cookie sheet greased with cooking spray.
- 9. Cover with dry cloth and let rise for 30 minutes.
- 10. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
- 11. Brush tops with melted margarine, if desired, to help keep breadsticks moist.
