September's Theme - All About Me
Week 1 - Body Parts
As the children learn to identify body parts and the many ways to use them, they build cognitive, physical and language skills. They learn through sensory discovery by moving through and experiencing the world. As the children move, they become more aware of what they can do, see and explore. Our bodies are our toolkits for discovery. As the children build an appreciation for their bodies, they gain confidence and are more willing to try new things. Nurturing the children's understanding of the self helps them build habits to keep their bodies strong, healthy and safe.

Week 2 - Five Senses
Children process and retain information when they actively engage their senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. Using sight helps build literacy skills, pattern recognition and observation of the world around them. Using hearing allows the children to distinguish different sounds and strengthens their listenings skills. When the children explore taste and smell, they learn about their own preferences and try new tastes and smells. Touch helps the children investigate different textures and practice using their hands gently with others. Our five senses help children make connections and are also fun to explore.

Week 3 - Clothing
The investigation of clothing invites children to build confidence with self-help skills, from independently choosing what to wear to putting on and taking off coats, shoes and shirts. Additionally, the children work on fine motor skills while manipulating buttons and shoelaces. They discover that clothing has many different purposes, such as keeping us warm or protecting our bodies. Learning about clothing also helps the children explore cultural preferences and traditions. Throughout the week, the children build their vocabulary, strengthen motor skills and explore how they use clothing in their everyday routines.

Week 4 - Staying Healthy
When children learn how to keep their bodies healthy, they build confidence and self-help skills. They practice healthy routines at school and at home, such as washing hands, brushing teeth and exercising. As the children explore different ways to move, they discover activities they enjoy and build habits that help keep their bodies healthy.
