Winter in the Woods

Jump, sing and dance along! Explore new rhythms, theme-related lyrics and instruments unique to the featured musical genre of the month. While dancing along to the music, children build coordination and balance as they learn to creatively express ideas through movement.

Lumberjack

I swing my heavy axe, I am a lumberjack.
I chop, chop, one, two, three. Down comes the forest tree.
I plant another in its place. See the smile on my face.
Swing, swing, chop, chop, swing.
Get out of the way!
TIMBER!

Kittens and Mittens

Three little kittens lost their mittens.
For then their little paws were chilly.
"We really need our mittens," said the three little kittens.
Winter without mittens is silly.
Hide and seek, look around, take a peek.
Where did the mittens go?
Three little kittens lost their mittens.
But Momma knew just where they'd be.
"Here's your mittens," said Momma to the kittens.
"Hangin' near the fire to get toasty."

Running Reindeer

Brown ears, black nose,
Clippity Cloppity toes.
Running here, running there,
is the mother reindeer.
Through the trees, like a breeze.
Graceful in the morn,
with her new baby born.
Little brown ears, little black nose.
Clippity cloppity tiny toes.
Stumbling here, stumbling there
is a baby reindeer

Winter in the Woods

It's winter in the woods,
let's follow the tracks in the snow.
It's winter in the woods,
where do the animals go?
Rabbit tracks hop, hop, hop and then they stop.
Deer tracks jump, jump, jump right over the stump.
Wolf tracks step, step, step quietly they crept.
Mouse tracks run, run, run were they having fun?

Snowstorm

(instrumental)

Forest Food

Mister Hedgehog what are you looking for?
Mister Hedgehog what are you looking for?
It's almost winter don't you know?
Hibernate before the snow.
Food, I'm lookin' for forest food.
A bug or a berry, a nut or a cherry.
Food, I'm lookin' for forest food.
Mister Bear, what are you looking for?
Mister Bear, don't you want to sleep some more?
It's almost winter don't you know?
Hibernate before the snow.
Mister Rabbit what are you looking for?
Mister Rabbit what are you looking for?
If you're hungry, use your nose.
Dig way down before the snow.

Fireplace Glow

When the wind blows, it freezes Daddy's nose.
And even his toes just about froze.
So come in from the cold, come in from the cold.
So inside he goes where the fireplace glows
And warms his nose and even his toes.

Pine Tree

Pine tree, pine tree, you are such a fine tree.
Pine tree, pine tree, you are such a find tree.
What kind of tree stays green all the time?
What kind of tree drops cones on the ground?
Pine tree, pine tree, you're such a fine tree.
Evergreen, evergreen, the best tree that I've ever seen.
What kind of tree has roots deep and strong?
What kind of tree has branches thin and long?

Only One

I'm like a snowflake, there's only one of me.
I'm not like any other, one of a kind.
I'm like a snowflake, as special as can be.
I'm the only one of me, you will ever find.

Snowshoe Stomp

(instrumental)

Snow Owl

Hoo, hoo, hoo.
Who's singing? Hoo.
Hiding in the tree. Hoo, hoo.
Snow owl is it you? Hoo, hoo.

My Gift

I'm like a snowflake. There's only one of me.
I'm not like any other. I'm one of a kind.
I'm like a snowflake as special as can be.
I'm the only one of me you will ever find.
